All home care agencies are invited to an in-person meeting of the HCAOA Connecticut Chapter on Tuesday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheraton Hartford South, Rocky Hill.
The agenda will include a discussion about background checks and nonsolicitation agreements with two officials from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection: Pamela Brown, Investigations Director, and Ryan Burns, State Project Manager, Legal Division. As members will recall, beginning January 1, 2022, a new state law requires home care agencies to conduct a local and national criminal background check of prospective employees. And in May of this year, the legislature prohibited nonsolicitation agreements (‘no-hire’ clauses) in home care. During this session, key state officials from the Department of Consumer Protection will discuss the new laws and requirements, how they will be enforced, and how HCAs can comply with the new laws.
Lunch will be served and there will be time for networking.
